Thousands of Ontario community college instructors took to the polls Wednesday to vote on whether to approve their union’s strike mandate if an agreement with Colleges Ontario can’t be reached.
Around 9,000 faculty members were encouraged to vote at 24 campuses across the province after talks between the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) and management collapsed midway through December.
According to its website, OPSEU is fighting for instructors to receive a 2.5 per cent pay increase in each year of a three-year contract, a reduced workload and more academic freedom.
Around 200,000 full-time students and 300,000 part-time students could be affected if a strike is approved and a deal can’t be reached.
Results are expected to start rolling in as early as Wednesday evening.

I go to Guelph-Humber, will we get affected because Humber will be on strike, seeing how majority of our staff is from Humber
